Painted Fruit

Yay! Painted fruit! We were focused mainly on blocking in colour (since it's only our second painting class) but I added a bit more detail afterwards, like the stem. This is just one of many lemons, aubergines and apples I painted that day.

Sheridan Illustration Portfolio Sketchbook

These are just a few of the pages from the sketchbook that I submitted along with my portfolio. Again... not the most amazing. Even after just a few weeks in the program, I've really improved not only my drawing skills, but my thinking/creative skills as well.

Zanna's Sheridan Illustration Portfolio 2012

This is what I submitted as my portfolio last May to get into Sheridan's amazing (or so I've heard) Illustration program. Literally everyone I've asked who has had an experience with Sheridan has only positive things to say about it.
As a disclaimer, although I DID get into the program, I DID NOT receive the greatest score... so don't take this portfolio as a particularly good example. I think the people assessing the portfolios were looking for basic skills that they could build on more than anything else. Anyways, here it is:

^ My sister. It looks nothing like her :(

^ I'm sensitive about my weird thumbs. It's not that I drew them wrong. They look like those thumb thumb monsters from Spy Kids. (Anyone know what I'm talking about?)

^ Gestures.

^ I am fully aware that this watercolour painting sucks.

^ I couldn't help including the dragon, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to include anything fantasy-ish.

^ Mr. Purdy! He is the best model ever. He was watching tv and literally DID NOT move for the 1/2 hour it took to draw him.

^ My mum!

^ Another piece that probably shouldn't have been included. But it's probably the greatest thing I've ever done, in my opinion.

^ The "idea process" for the previous drawing.

^ My dad!

WARNING NUDE MODELS!

^ This lovely 70-year-old gentleman had a prominent tramp stamp that I tastefully chose not to recreate.

^ I never seem to have time to finish both the face and the body of the model.

^ Sorry this is hard to see, there's some good foreshortening action going on here.
